We meet at 6:30 PM Wednesdays, at the Healthy Start Office next to the Library in Frazier Park.
Boys who are 11 years old or who have passed the 5th grade and who are younger than 18 are eligible to join. We try to have one outing and one fundraising activity each month. Past activities have included: backpacking, surfing, skateboarding, swimming, canoeing, bicycling, a week at Camp Kern, and other fun activities. Check out our Current Schedule to see what we have planned.
Annual registration is $7.00 and dues are $4.00/month. We ask that each boy contribute $25.00 to a camping fund. So far, the troop has been able to support itself with fundraisers and helpful donations from the community.
Each scout should obtain a uniform shirt within a short time of joining the troop. Our troop uses the official khaki shirt and blue jeans. We encourage scouts to also get a troop neckerchief ($8.50). We also have an optional troop hat ($5.50). An optional class B uniform shirt (printed T shirt) is available from the troop for $9.00 or $10.00 (depending on size). Official uniform shirts and patches are available at the Scout Shop in Bakersfield (2417 M St, 325-9036), or in Valencia at Sport Chalet, or at any other Scout Shop (Palmdale, Van Nuys, Camarillo, Sierra Madre etc) Sometimes uniform shirts can be found at thrift shops.
The Southern Sierra Council patches needed for the shoulder are only available at the
Bakersfield store. Scoutmaster Ken Hurst keeps a few which he will sell if you have
difficulty getting to Bakersfield.
The patches for rank are provided by the troop, all additional patches are the individual
scouts responsibilty. If you decide you need 2 shirts, and want a duplicate rank patch,
talk to the Scoutmaster, and he will help you buy it.
