23rd Lilac Festival
2005

Pine Mountain Club
The Pine Mountain Club Commercial
Property Owners Association is proud to announce the 23rd Annual Lilac
Festival in the Pine Mountain Village Center on May 14th and 15th, 2005.
We invite you to be a part of our festival.
WHAT IS THE LILAC FESTIVAL?
The Lilac Festival is a traditional, juried arts and crafts faire.
We look for artisans whose work is truly handmade and whose talent reflects
quality craftsmanship and a unique style and vision, whether their forte
is fine art or yard art, photography, sketches or oil paintings, children's
toys, stained glass or hand-blown glass, ceramics, pottery, sculptures,
furniture, jewelry, wood products, picture frames, candles, clothing, floral
arrangements, quilts, chimes, and objects d'art. The Lilac Festival is
an Arts and Crafts Faire, not a Bazaar or a swap meet, and we do not allow
factory resale items to be sold, though vendors do not have to make all
items themselves.
On Saturday, the Lilac Festival will offer helicopter
rides, a parade, contests, a strolling magician, a Maypole Dance, as well
as golf, tennis and horseshoe tournaments. On both Saturday and Sunday,
we will have live entertainment and goings-on at the Gazebo, live music,
food booths, arts and crafts booths, kids booths, full-service restaurants
and helicopter rides.
The arts and crafts hours are 9 AM to 5PM Saturday,
and 10 AM to 4 PM Sunday, though you may open earlier and stay open later
if you so desire. Booth space rates are noted in the application. The rates
cover both days and there are no commissions or security deposits to worry
about - just a flat rate. Please fill out your application and mail it
back with a check made out to the "Pine Mountain Club Lilac Festival."
Your application will be responded to within 10 days upon receipt.
Arts and crafts booth space locations will be
posted at 4:00 PM on Friday, May 13th. Vendors may begin setting up at
5PM. PLEASE DO NOT SET UP BEFORE 5PM. PLEASE. Food vendors may begin setting
up anytime on Friday. (They're located in a different part of the Village
Center, adjacent to the arts and crafts). On Saturday and Sunday mornings,
by 9:00am, ALL vehicles must be removed from the arts & crafts
booth area and legally parked in one of the nearby parking areas.
Last year's attendance was estimated to be between
8,000 and 12,000 over the course of the weekend, (among our largest turnouts
ever) and we anticipate a larger turnout this year, assuming the weather
cooperates. (We've increased our advertising and promotional budget significantly
over the last few years and are spending even more this year.)
WHERE THE HECK IS PINE MOUNTAIN
CLUB?
We are located 18 miles west of the Interstate 5 Frazier Park/Mt.Pinos
exit, which is itself two miles north of Gorman. This section of the I-5
that runs through the mountains between Los Angeles and Bakersfield is
commonly referred to as "The Grapevine." We are part of the Los
Padres National Forest. We are approximately 90 minutes north of downtown
Los Angeles and 65 minutes south of Bakersfield. (Or 50 minutes north of
Six Flags Magic Mountain.) In other words, not that far and closer than
you think.
LODGING
For lodging, you have your choice of campgrounds, motels, hotels
and cabins. Contact the Pine Mountain Club Clubhouse for campsites at the
Pine Mountain Club Campground at 661-242-3788. For rooms at the Best Rest

two motels too. Try the Frazier Mountain Motel at 661-245-3788, or the

SECURITY
Pine Mountain Club Public Safety will patrol throughout the night
around the festival area. We will also have additional private security
walking throughout the area. Vandalism and theft is a rarity in Pine Mountain
Club, but it has happened on a couple of occasions over the course of two
decades, so use good judgment in protecting your merchandise. Neither Pine
Mountain Club nor the Commercial Property Owners Association will be held
responsible for any theft or vandalism to your property.
IF YOU'VE NEVER BEEN TO PINE MOUNTAIN
CLUB...
....you're in for a pleasant surprise. Located at about 5,000 feet,
the Pine Mountain Village Center is the business center of Pine Mountain
Club. It is truly beautiful here, with crisp, clear blue skies, fresh,
pine-scented air and wonderful vistas everywhere you turn. It's idyllic
- a slice of paradise, really, a modern day Garden of Eden. In fact, according
to the religion of the Chumash Indians, (the original inhabitants of this
area,) the mountain range that includes Mt. Pinos, Mt. Abel and Frazier
Mountain is the center of the universe. So when was the last time you did
a festival next to the center of the universe?
We thank you for your interest in being an exhibitor
and look forward to seeing you at the Lilac Festival. For additional information,
contact Lia Sluyter at 661-242-6960 or Mark Bailey at 661-242-8810.
