With the heat of summer days fading to mellow sunshine,
Shelter on the Hill held it's 6th Annual Wine and Cheese
Fundraiser at the Tait Ranch in Frazier Park. The event
broke previous records for the most tickets sold, the
largest attendance, the best array of silent auction and
live auction items, the most money raised, and by far the
most fun had by all!
Dozens of hungry people munched happily on cheeses paired with crunchy crackers, bread and fresh fruit while sampling a variety of lovely wines.
Featured cheeses were Aria Danish Fontina, Bucheron, Cabot
Black Wax Cheddar, Midnight Moon and Humbolt Fog while this
year's obvious favorite was the Supreme Brie with Adriatic
Fig Spread. A variety of wines included a rich and dreamy
Tejon Ranch Napa Chardonnay while Sagebrush Annie's Cab
stole the show and had no trouble garnering big dollars at
auction.
Music matching the lighthearted mood of the afternoon
activities was provided by Chris Wilson of Atomic Roots
Music.
"It's always been a good event for the shelter" said president and (amateur) auctioneer Knute Johnson. "But this year there was an additional energy - perhaps because we are all so pleased that building has started." SOTH board of directors signed an agreement with R. M. Stowell Construction in August to erect a prefabricated building purchased at the beginning of the year.
